Default 1979 Potter Seacraft 20 SF new to the fam! + Restore

Thanks for looking!

Super excitied about it and have definitley caught the fever.

Some things considered;

Considering replacing or downsizing the console for more walk around/fishing room - and thus having a welder modifying the t top to fit the resize... the current console is from a 23'.

Just started with the tank replacement. Most fishing will be half days out of the boynton inlet; however our goal one day is to skip across to the bahamas. I know, I know - 20' boat etc etc. Its happening. Collectively saving for life insurance policies. Is replacing the tank with the same size (47 gall) considered ridiculous?

Can anyone vouch on how well yellow has held up in the sun? Would like to repaint same color, or Federal Yellow (awlgrip ready mix color).

Also, how has a bracket treated you on a 20' SF? How large of a bracket did you go with? Move the tank forward? Spoke with stainless marine in miami and they recommended an 18" bracket, which would not allow for full tilt of the motor - but maintain an adequate balance of the boat...

Much Thanks!

Andrew

Pretty sure plenty of folks here have made the crossing in their 20's. I would not hesitate to do it in mine on the right days.

I replaced my fuel tank with a 52 gallon aluminum. I'm only running a 115 on mine and I don't know exactly what my range is but I know I can go a LONG way on a fuel tank of fuel.

if your relpacing your console the t top will be too wide.. would you consider selling your console and t top ?

I have a 27 inch stainless marine bracket on my rig and its holding a 200 mercury, looks good and works great. boat sits good in the water and runs nice. take a look at my posts and you can see some pics of it in the water as well as the build.
