Noaa and I.
So Noaa said 8 ft. swells @ 9 seconds. Why have I forgotten about Noaa? He is not the best archer on the range. I used to ride over the bridge and just....look. No more Noaa for me.
Coulda fished a john boat today. Is John a better forecaster than Noaa? I know my eyes are. |

Hey Sandy, I was wondering if the issue might be the first and last word in NOAA??? Just wondering!

So this being said, where does everyone get their "good" dope from?

Your 1980`s dealer of course. I call some local boats, but today Jupiter was no, and Boynton was flat with no wind and a back drift. Go figure.

It's south Florida. If you want to know the weather, binoculars from the top of the Blue Heron Bridge used to work fine for me. :-)

You have to understand, NOAA looks at their hi tech models and all that delicious data that is hours or days old. They do not look out the window. Getting out of the office and over to Blue Heron bridge just is not in their frame of reference.
Trust me, I used to hang out with some of those guys when I worked on the beach and I was much better at forecasting weather changes than they were. |

When I was learning to fly (PBI, 1967) there was a building at the west end of runway 9 (it's now runway 10, interesting story). It was a small building with one door and no windows. Had lots of antennas and spinning doodads on top. So one day while waiting for clearance I asked my instructor what the heck that building was. She said "oh, the one with no windows? Why, that's the NOAA forecast center!"
Never trusted those idiots since. |
