Default 1976 SeaCraft 18'-Project Boat-$3000

Hello all,

I have a 1976 SeaCraft center console that I started working on a few months ago. I am tired of working on it and I'm scared that I'll never finish it...

The boat has been torn apart and I have already put a lot of hours into rebuilding it. Most of the cap (bow, gunnel caps, center console, anchor storage compartment) has been re-cored with 6oz foam. I cut a piece of 1.5" high density foam board for the transom that is ready to be glassed. I almost glassed it in but had an issue with the resin hardening too fast.

I will also include the 18" aluminum transom dive platform/bracket, roll of mat glass, roll of unidirectional fiberglass, the trailer, the rest of the 6oz foam board, and 8 pieces of 2'x4' honeycomb coring.

I am posting some answers to an email I received from someone interested in the boat. If anyone else has any questions, feel free to post!

Looking over the pictures, I have some questions regarding the SeaCraft.
1. Have you separated the deck from the stringers?
Yes

2. What condition are the stringers in? Is the foam water logged?
The foam stringers are dry. I drilled a few pilot holes into the foam and all of the shavings were dry (I glassed back over the holes afterwards). The center stringer is made of wood; I'm not sure of the condition as I was planning to replace it. However, when I removed the old transom and removed a section of the stringer for access, the wood was solid.

3. What is the condition of the exterior hull? Are there any deep gouges in the gelcoat into the glass?
The exterior is fine.

4. Bottom condition? Are there any deep gouges or cracks? Or just the normal scratches from normal use?
There are some gouges in the bottom going into the fiberglass. I've used the boat for years like this, so I'm sure the repairs will be minor. No cracks.

5. On the board for the transom, what was the issue with the resin? What type of resin are you using, Epoxy or Polyester?
I'm using Boatyard Polyester Resin. I probably used too much hardener. This is hard to explain but I was sealing the edges of the board into the transom. I put a layer of chopped glass and resin into the transom and then put a layer of mat on the board. By the time I was ready to put the board into the transom, the chopped glass was already hard. So I just pulled the mat off of the board and called it a day. In short the board is fine but the transom will need some grinding to remove the chopped glass.

6. Is the transom board still usable?
Yes, there is a picture of it in my post in the CSC forum.

7. How road worthy is the trailer? Bearings, springs, hubs and tires? Bunks? Are both fenders missing?
The trailer is fine. The suspension, hubs, and wheels were replaced about a year ago. The fenders have been missing since I could remember.
