See if anyone wants this boat more than me. Insurance is not give quite enough to buy a new motor, so Im thinking about selling her and getting a 27' 1985/2012 SeaCraft 23 Center Console $25,000 OBO Completely rebuilt and customized 23' SeaCraft. No Engine. Enclosed Transom, deck raised 2”, self bailing. Console, tanks, bait well were all moved forward to compensated for moving engine to bracket, she sits high and trimmed well. Hull: Console and livewell/leaning post are glassed to hull (no screws) and then bolted to the stringers; extremely solid. Original stringers reinforced, raised 2”, new frames/bulkhead added – more stiff than original design. Sole/deck epoxy bonded to the tops of stringers. Oversize console with large front door, t-top in excellent condition with Eisenglass enclosure. Custom hatched molded into deck. Custom scupper tubes and drains. Anchor locker with hooks to hang anchor vertical. Dry compartment forward. Insulated ice box forward. Insulated box built into transom. New Sterling Ice blue paint job, Hatteras white inside, and new non-skid. New matching rubrail. 10 rod holders on gunnels, 4 on leaning post, 6 on T-top, and 8 on console. Fuel: 2 new 55 gallon gas tanks, new fuel lines, tanks epoxy coated and bolted/glassed to hull. Rigging (all new): Brand new hydraulic steering. All new Yamaha controls. 2 new batteries with switch and computerized charging relay. 100 amp main fuse. Switch panel for lights and accessories. Fuel flow meter. 2 accessory outlets 12V. New Lenco trim tabs with the LED switch. Electronics: New Humminbird 998 sidescan sonar and GPS chart plotter. Uniden VHF Lights: running/anchor lights mounted to t-top, LED over head light, forward and rear flood lights. Power: 2003 Yamaha 225 4 stroke with only 400 hours. Bought this motor with 360 hours, looks and run like brand new. Have put 45 hours on the motor since mounting it on this boat and it runs great. Plumbing: Bilge access through removable hatch. All thru-hulls and pumps are EASY top reach accessible in seconds. 50 gallon circular flow livewell (bottom feed) with 1100 gph bait century pump, dual overflow drains. Salt water wash down installed, just need to be hooked up. Performance: Cruises at 27 mph and 4000 RPM and 8.5 GPH and 9 GPH at 30 mph and 4300 RPM. Have not even needed to use second gas tank. In a couple days of fishing I ran and fished 60 miles and still had a half of tank 1. Trailer:galvanized trailer, all new bearings, new tires with spare. Recently towed the boat to the key and back with no problem. I have over 700 pictures of this boat being rebuilt. I documented the build in detail at my website and also at this site. All structural work was done with epoxy resin and biaxial fiberglass. I built this boat with then intention of keeping and using forever. I still may, but after using it for a few months with the family I think I need something a little bigger. Open to trades for a bigger boat. This boat is absolutely turn key. NOTE: Engine was stolen off boat, first of September. I am now deciding if I want to re-power with new motor. Boat will only be for sale for short time, if it does not sell I will re-power and keep it forever. Please email with any questions.

The Thieves may have done you a favor. I have been reading a lot about 2000-2004 Yamaha F225 Outboards with a severe corrosion problem in the Dry Exhaust Portion of the Engine and Exhaust. All the flushing in the world does not prevent it and they usually fail between 400-600 (low) hours. Yamaha does not appear to be stepping up and there are a lot of pissed of loyal customers buying a different brand. From what I read, if you catch it in time, its about 2K in Parts, if not it's about 10K as the Oil pan fails and the power head gets trashed. I am not sure if it makes you feel any better, but you would think logic would dictate they would be punshed for their sins and have the powerhead let go miles from shore.

sorry, no problem with corrosion - had mechanic put a scope all the way up exhaust. Also, have buddy who had same motors (2003 F225) with 1200+ hours and no issues. Same mechanic who scoped my motor had done the rebuild exhaust a week before on another F225, so he knew what he was looking for.
i would not hesitate to buy another one, but I would scope the exhaust before buying. Otherwise, its about $2000 parts/labor to do the job BTW, there is no motor on this boat - whoever buys her can put their own "denomination" of motor on the back.

I have a 25" yamaha ox-66 250 motor that I just removed of my 23 to make way for a new twin hermco bracket and 30" motor. I would give you a good deal on it. I also have most everything else you would need to rig it. It is a great motor for that boat and it is always easier to sell the boat with a motor. |
