Default Fuel tanks and tank hatch covers

Is it worth making a hatch cover or save the time and just cut the deck if it is ever necessary to replace the fuel tank? I have not seen many fuel hatches in the deck replacements on this site other then Stricks 20 ft extensive rebuild.

Is there anyone other then Moeller that sells 8" deep plastic tanks so you do not have to worry about an aluminum tank corroding? The Moeller 8" tank fittings will not allow access to just 1 inspection hatch under the console of an 18 ft Sea Craft
