Default Wiring Question

I am getting ready to completly rewire my 73 sf. I plan on glassing in some backing wood in the console to mount the bus and fuses.

My question is: How do you mount the rest of the wires throughout the boat?

I am particulary interested in how people mounted the wires running up the gunwale to the bow light.

Thanks for your imput.

Forget the glass/wood. Try using white PVC board. Epoxy glue it to the inside of your console. No rot & easy to mount your electrical equipment on. Here's a pic from my flats skiff.

Mountable type cable ties work good to screw up under the gunnels and run your bow light wiring.

Capt. Chuck is right on.

The only thing I might add is get some softer PVC tubing (like water hose, etc.) and cut short pieces, 1 or 2" and use them as buffers where the wires run through the wire-ties. It will extend the life of the wire by spreading the load over a larger area. Make sure there is plenty of space for the air to get to it so moisture doesn't build up and use marine grade tinned wire.

Thanks for the help. The thread above is where I got the idea for glassing in the mounting board, but I think I like the starboard/epoxy idea even better.

I was really lucky to find a switch pannel premade and wired at a place in Ft. Pierce. It also came attached to the fuse panel so that should save me a lit of time and headache.

My concern with the wiring clip mounts is in the screws. How do the mounting screws not punch through the console?

Also, I am reluctant to put any screws into the hull for the gunwale/bow light wires.

"Also, I am reluctant to put any screws into the hull for the gunwale/bow light wires."

-- Just pre-drill the screw holes into wood core, shoot some epoxy resin in them using a syringe and large bore blunt needle and then drive the screws home. Water-tight seal to the coring wood- no subsequent rot.
