My family and I go to Bahia Honda every year for 10 days. Leaving on the 18th coming. You need to make reservations for Bahia Honda 11 months in advance, but there are places up and down the Keys open in November, its a slow season.

I recommend against Key West, it's no longer family friendly, and the OPBA races are in November, so it's hard to get a place there.

Marathon area is great in November, as is Big Pine, Islamorada and Tavernier.

I have had friends stay at the Seashell Beach resort on Grassy Key, and they loved it, and it was very inexpensive. Grassy Key is next to Marathon

Thanks for the reply FR. Frank. I forgot to mention that it would be around mid december. I went to key west once around 5 years ago, and that was an experiance... my brother and i got hit on by no joke, a 7' tall transvestite. it was unreal. anyways yeah im not into the tourist scene (being from the cape, haha) but im sure the lady would like to visit key west for a day just to say shes been.

We hasve been going every sometimes twice a year since 92 so here is my 2 C worth. I love Islamorada for several reasons. The fishing is incredible, both inshore, and offshore. You are close to several geat protected dive areas as well as several great wrecks in the 90-100' mark.
We use Drop Anchor resort. They have only about 20 rooms, each one has a full kitchen, and fridge. They are directly on the Atlantic, and 2 minutes from open water, and even have a ramp. It is usualy peaceful quiet, respectful, and beautiful there. We have some geat fishing spots close in and the flats near the resort have some of the best tarpon, and bonefish fishing in the entire keys. offshore you have the humps, and right now there are lots of sailfish near the reefs edge. Just my 2c worth if you have any questions ask away.

I prefer the middle keys. Marathon - Key Colony in particular. Islamorada is the "high rent district", it is closer to the humps but not worth the difference. Key Colony is by Vaca Cut - ocean and bay are right there. There is a pool club tennis courts etc. for the family and most of the houses are on the water.

Two resturants/bars everything within walking distance.

I go her every year for a week for the last 25 years great place. It is a resort, has a pool, beach, tennis, marina, dock, dry storage, gas, restaurant, bar, convenience store, and a marine hardware store all with in flip flop distance of your room also has charter boats with some great captains like Snapshot. In October we got 25 black fin tuna in 3 days off the 409 hump.

Marine, restaurant and convience, gas pumps and tackel shop in the background.
