Default nj mudhole oct 21

ran an afternoon trip yesterday, fished 25 miles SE of sandy hook
lots of bait, clean green 61 degree water
had 40ft +- vis on the baits,
the bluefins did not want to cooperate
great ride home at least, slight swell from the SE low haze, sun setting
32 knts all the way home to keyport.
heard of some fish further to the S SW of me
had a small fleet of boats on the radar but it was getting too late to make the run down there.
maybe they will want to eat on the next weather window

You'll get them next time. Do you have a green 23? I might have seen you rounding the hook.

I have had a frustrating tuna season, only mahi, skippies, and albies for my troubles. It was a perfect day yesterday. I debated making the run to the ledge and areas west of there, but decided to try for bass at the hook instead.

I heard the guys at the ledge dealing with bluefish on the radio, also heard of a lot of fish on the surface but not biting?

Have to take advantage of those weather windows when you get them, especially in October! Maybe I'll see you out there sometime, I'm out of the Navesink.

It was beautiful.

There was a pretty big fleet at the rip and in the sandy hook channel. We were fishing eels right in that fleet. I saw one fish get caught in about three hours.

I had a great BFT season in the mudhole. I went 8 trips in a row with BFT's in the box. The last trip (1.5 weeks ago) was a bust.

I know that they are still around & but are becoming increasingly difficult to catch.

That's real good Peter, glad you got into them this year. I hadn't fished offshore in about 10 years or so as I was boatless. I started to get back into it this year on my neighbor's 21 contender and then on my SeaCraft.

Both of the boats are small so it is frustrating when you wait and wait on the weather to be right, then don't catch. Oh well, at least my neighbor is looking to possibly go to a 25 or 27 contender for next season
