Default Bracket backwash...

After easing off the throttle I am getting a good bit of backwash around the cowl. I have a full length bracket on a 1970 20. She runs great and topping out @ +/- 40 KTS.
Any suggestions as how to prevent or reduce this effect?
I do think she is a little heavy in the rear but not much I can do about that at the moment, at least not until she gets a makeover.
Any thoughts..........Oh, 2006 150 Optimax w/ 25" shaft.
