Default Sailing Yacht in Key West

While on vacation in the Keys last week, my family and I took a day trip to Key West. Right at sunset on Monday Feb 25, this sailing yacht was being towed past Mallory Square. As it turns out, it is a 150 or so foot Perini Navi that was grounded on a sand bar just off Key West for over 2 years! If you look in the photo section of this site, you'll see more photos of its grounding that Trayder had posted.

Don't quote me on this but i believe there was quite a controversey about the grounding.
The owner could not leave the boat because it was grounded and was scared the vessel would be "pirated" . There was also an issue about him tearing up the seagrass and a lawsuit. There was also an issue about his insurance. I'm sure you could google the whole thing.

If remember correctly i read about this in the palm beach post some time ago and yes the owner would stay on the boat very often and his captain was there every night for fear of thieves and pirates. Again if i think it is the same rig i think it cut loose during a hurricane a couple years back.
