Suzuki 225 4 Stroke
Just bought a new Suzuki 225 4 stroke for my 80 23cc with an armstrong bracket. Need prop suggestions if anyone is running this motor and setup.

Re: Suzuki 225 4 Stroke
They use those new 16" dia. Props. A 16x20 is
a good starting point with that gear ratio. Keep us posted on performance numbers when she's broken in. Rodney |

Re: Suzuki 225 4 Stroke
Thanks for the suggestion. Really looking forward to seeing how this engine will do. Replacing a 97 200 Rude. Should see a big difference in fuel flow at least. Will post performance and fuel flows when I get them.

Re: Suzuki 225 4 Stroke
16x20 sounds like a lot of prop to me. My 23 has a 225 OptiMax and I'm running a 15 1/2X 17 . Trial and error is the only way to know for sure.

QUOTE: My 23 has a 225 OptiMax.
That Suzuki is geared much lower than a OptiMax. Suzuki is 2.29:1 (Two-stage Reductin Gear] OptiMax is 1.75:1 That's why the Suzuki's have as good or better holeshot than a 2stroke. Other 4 strokes don't have it near that low of gear ratio. [Yamaha or Honda] |

Re: Suzuki 225 4 Stroke
Otto,
Yes I am concerned about the weight!!! My Armstrong bracket has 450 lbs of floation I heard, but my old 200 rude rides pretty low in the water. I sure hope I have not opened up a big problem. I won't sell the old motor until I know for sure. I got way to good a deal on the Suzuki not to buy it. |

Re: Suzuki 225 4 Stroke
Another thing is Suzuki's prop pitch's are not comparable to the real world pitches. The 16" props may be different, but their V6 14-15" props are about 3" high. A 14.25 x 20" Suzuki prop will run exactly the same RPM's as a 17" Stiletto or any other brand's 17" pitch.. If the dealer is suppling that 16 x 20" wheel make you test it with the load you normally carry before you let them walk away from it.

Re: Suzuki 225 4 Stroke
Any idea's why that is Dunk? If you were picking an aftermarket prop, would you go with the Stiletto's as opposed to another brand?
