Digital Camera HELP needed
I received a great Olympus 3 megapixel digital camera for Christmas. It took a little while to get it all figure out but now I've mastered it. My question. The camera came with Camedia software. I loaded it on my computer and transfered the pictures to my computer. They told me if I wanted to email the pictures, I had to upgrade to Camedia Pro software for $20 bucks. I did. I composed an email and attached a photo as a test. Then I come to find out the software cannot support the AOL email system. So here I am with all these SeaCraft pictures that I cannot email to the sight. What the heck can I do? Is other software available to use with my camera? Please help if you can.

Re: Digital Camera HELP needed
Briguy - that software is OK if you want to just e-mail from the camera but for AOL (they really don't do standards well) you may need to download it to your hard drive, edit the software with some editing program (you may already have one) from free to really expensive and then manually e-mail it like you would any other attachment. Did your computer come with Microsoft Office? If so what version? If not, what other software did it come with?

Re: Digital Camera HELP needed
John R,
Check out www.digideep.com once on the site, go to the list of underwater housing manufacturers and select the brand of camera that you have (not EWA-Marine!!). The Ewa bags work but the rigid housings are more durable and take UV abuse better. Most of these new housings for the consumer digital cameras are really cheap compared to what the 35mm housings run. Once you have found the exact housing you want, see if B&H in NYC has a better price or not. Good luck/ mark |

Re: Digital Camera HELP needed
Briguy ...any Luck ??? I want to see that transom work/and engines !!!!
John The housing I have is an Ikelite U/W housing rated for a depth of 200 feet .... Its built to house the 20xx,30xx, and 40xx series of Olympus cameras.... There are a few other manufacturers including Light and Motion Tetra , and the Olympus PT-010 .... the Tetra (is cast out of aluminum..2 or 300 foot rating) is over $1,000 and the Olympus (depth rated to 98 feet) is $300 the Ikelite falls in the middle....Its a very well built housing !!! the picture shows the housing plus an add on lens and an external strobe and these are a couple of pics that were on the card and taken using it Napoleon Wrasse and a couple of Clams |

Re: Digital Camera HELP needed
Capt Brian.....cant wait to see the BOAT !!!!
Personally I would do as JohnR suggests....resize the pictures using some kind of software (I use the Camedia software) then attach them to an email separately (I’m not familiar with the in’s and out’s of AOL)..... As I'm sure your aware you cant attach pictures to this site directly....Trayder has to do that .... Or JohnR can put them up on his site that he hosts.....Third option is to get an account at www.fishingworks.com or www.Imagestation.com (they are both free) upload pictures there and then link them to the site...just like this These were taken with an Olympus 3.3 mp camera (one with a U/W housing of course ) and resized using the Camedia software and attached using Imagestation (only bad thing is that these sites will resize your image to a standard size as seen above) Once you get the hang of it …it’s a great way to share pictures….I’m very pleased with the camera |

Re: Digital Camera HELP needed
John,
One thing you will have to be careful with when using a housing for a consumer digital and using the built-in flash on the camera is what is referred to as "back scatter". Because the flash is in line with the lens, you will potentially have images that look as though it is snowing (all of the particles in the water lit up by your flash). Unless you have a flash on a bracket like pictured above, you can pretty much be guaranteed of this effect. Just something to be aware of/ mark |
