Are there 'vintage years' for Seacraft hulls?

That boat has been on boattrader for some time now (on and off). One of the backup buyers on my 18' looked at it and backed out. Not sure what is up with that [img]images/icons/confused.gif[/img]

Here's one for $6000 less. $6000 in improvements can go a long ways.

The following 18' seacraft, a refurbished 1980s hull (says 1999 but that is the date that it was redone), is being advertised for $14K:

Motor supposed has low hours and the boat certainly looks clean. I understand that different companies have manufactured Sea Crafts over the years, but haven't been able to find out whether there are 'vintage' years or does it make no difference. I like the 18' but what should I look out for?

The infamous Potter SC's were built between 1970 and 1980. Many SC officianados believe these are the years to buy. From 1980-1986, CSY built them (I have an '82) and IMO the quality is just as good as a Potter. After '86 Tracker took over. It's at this point that quality in accessories and hardware slipped, but overall build quality remains up there with Potter and CSY. Regardless of the year you get, you'll be very happy with your choice.

Thanks for the advice and run down on the Potter hulls. As in any older boat, the quality of upkeep and repair can be as important as the build quality, and it is nice to have the run down on the different manufacturers.
