Re: 23' in NJ
wow - that is cheap - looks like a really nice boat....I'm starting to feel bad about spending $8K for a hull that is 8 years older than that one.....hmmm....

Re: 23' in NJ
Eric,
If you've got a late 70's 23'CC I wouldn't feel too bad. You have the boat that most of the readership here is after. |

Re: 23' in NJ
Thanks Mark - I have been picking up on that. I have a '77. Why are they so popular over the later model ones?

Re: 23' in NJ
The boats that were built during the years that Mr. Potter owned the company are more sought after than the more recent hulls. You can do a search on this site and get the exact years, but it is roughly up until about 1979/1980 or so.
Many people that are into the "classic" SeaCraft's will only buy these years and particularly shun the Tracker built boats. Then again, if you are completely rebuilding the boat, it may be of less importance. |

Re: 23' in NJ
Sure - NOW you tell me ... Even for an 85, that's a great price. And 85 is still a CSY boat, right? Nothing wrong with those according to what everyone says...
'Course mine is a Potter Hull - which I wasn't really thinking about as the CSY's are good boats too...

Re: 23' in NJ
'85 is CSY. I don't see any difference between my '82 CSY and the Potter era as far as quality (glass work, hardware, etc.). As the story goes, CSY stopped building them because they were losing money. CSY builds high-end sailboats and tried to use the same formula on the SC's and ended up losing money on each one they sold.

Re: 23' in NJ
Anyone checked the 85' 23SF CSY out or called on it? Seems too good to be at that price. I recall Trayder saying that the CSY is held in the same regard as Potter Built - Here is the quote from Trayder...."Essentially Hammer's 18 is one well built SeaCraft and all though it may be a sin to say it, some consider the CSY hulls to be the best built!."
