Replacing center console
I was thinking of replacing my console on my 1973 23 ft. I was looking for something alittle smaller than the orginal.I was wondering if you guys could help with any companys or custom built that provide center consoles.

Re: Replacing center console
HA MY SACRIFICE
I ALSO OWN A 23 WITH THAT DOOR IN THE FRONT END OF THE CONSOL. I LOVE THE CONSOL BUT HATED THAT LITTLE SEAT SECTION IN THE DOOR. I’VE BEEN REDOING THE ENTIRE CONSOL. REMOVED THE SEAT SECTION ON THE DOOR AND MADE IT FLUSH BY USING FIBERGLASS AND EPOXY NOW IN THE PROCESS OF PAINTING IT HAS TURNED OUT PRETTY GOOD. I ALSO MOVED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE CENTER OF THE CONSOL AND I’M PUTTING THE BINNACLE ON THE RIGHT SIDE. I ALSO FILLED IN A BUNCH OF HOLES AND ADDED A BOTTOM SECTION TO THE BACK END OF THE CONSOLE UNDER THE WHEEL WILL BE PUTTING HINGED DOORS TO GET INTO IT. LOTS OF WORK BUT ALL IN ALL I REALLY LIKE THAT FRONT DOOR AND WANTED TO KEEP THE CONSOL. IF YOU ARE NOT INTO THAT TYPE OF LABOR YOU CAN CHECK WITH ANY GOOD MARINE FIBERGLASS GUY TO RE DO YOURS OR HAVE HIM MAKE YOU A NEW ONE. OR YOU CAN BUY A CONSOL FROM MOST BOAT MANUFACTURERS, OR YOU CAN CHECK WITH MARINE HARDWARE STORES. HERE IN FL. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PLACES THAT YOU CAN PICK UP SECOND HAND CONSOLES OR BUY NEW. I WOULD SUGGEST SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU THAT YOU CAN SEE WHAT YOU ARE BUYING FIRST. FELLOW-SHIP |

Re: Replacing center console
My Sacrifice
I like what Fellow-Ship has to say as that is what I have on my console...I have the door with the seat and I have a flat door(makes for much more room up front). I also like the storage that the console allows me. I will admit that the large console does consume a bit of spaace in the boat... Just a question..Why do you want to go smaller?? Personally and especially up in the North East the bigger console is more desirable due to the protection it affords you (albeit not that much)...Esp. in the fall fishing for Striped bass.... If you are getting a smaller console I would think you would have no problem selling your old one...I've been asked if I want to trade or sell mine Heres a link you may have already looked at but give it a whirl you can custom design and get exactly what you want...I'm sure they are not cheap http://www.spacemkr.com/index.html Also Trayder has a spot down in Florida, I'll look for it and post it here when I find it..... unless Trayder reads/gets to it first. Marine Connection Liquidators, in Ft Pierce FL I'll need to find the Phone# Talk to you soon and good luck Scott [ March 22, 2002, 10:58 AM: Message edited by: Scott ] |

Marine Conection Liquidators-
561-465-6460 Last time I was there they had OEM SeaCraft 23 CC's and I purchased a 22 Pathfinder console. Brand new stuff. Some even have T-tops attached if you with. The place is AWESOME!! If you call them ask for Tim and tell him Jason from Rhode Island sent you [ March 22, 2002, 10:01 PM: Message edited by: Trayder ] |
