General question for Floridians -
So, after years of life in New Hampshire, my wife and I are seriously looking at becoming snowbirds. We have friends from town that are in the Putnam County area, just south and inland from Jacksonville, near the St. Johns River. Anybody have any input / thoughts on this area of Florida? Thx in advance.

Not much going on. Visited close friends there many times. Pretty much laid back part of Fla. Never enjoyed waking up smelling the Sugar Mill in the air. BTW: I Googled top attractions in Palatka one time & results were -
"Big Lots" & " HogWaller Mud Bog"

Quiet is good
at least for us, we live out in the boonies of New Hampshire, had snow on the ground a couple of weeks ago, and decided to revisit a discussion we've been having - winter Not in New England. Last several years we've gone to Jamaica in Feb, for a week. This year I had covid back in June and am way behind on firewood, and we just said, it's time. So we're on the path to becoming snowbirds. Have a bid in on a place in Georgetown currently.

Went to an indoor shooting range in Palatka with my Dad years ago. It was pretty decent. |

We had some property on the west side of Lake George a long time ago. Real quiet back then. Bought it for $40 down , $40/month . Not on the lake, but within sight of it.

Lake George still gets freezing in the winter. Putnam county is laid back.
Basically Palatka is it for any services. Hospital, shopping, entertainment. My mom is in Lk Butler about 45 miles north of there. You will be on fresh water, not salt.. You need help, let me know.
