20 MA forward drain
In my 20 MA inside the forward hatch there is a drian that goes thru the hull directly out. I have plug for it but I'm thinking of closing it off and installing a drain that goes into the inside of the hull a d water would then run to the bilge area. The way it is now I see it serving no purpose as if the plug is not in place e everything just gets wet..
Anyone else closed this off? The boat is at the glass shop and I would like to give the guy a yes or no |

Often wondered if it was intended to be a livewell. Mine is always plugged as well and life jackets and stern anchor stored forward.

My dads 69 had the livewell in the rear. The large forward hatch we used for storage. We always assumed it was to fill with ice for the fish that automatically drain off.

. Just looked at the brochure. It is listed as a fish box. The drain is for the water as the ice melts.

I thought they were fish boxes. Would definitely rather drain that overboard than in the bilge, IF you were going to use it as such.

I think I just may leave it as it is and use the plug.
Either way I would not use it as a fish box. I don't catch that much anyways. LOL |

I replaced the thru-hull fitting with a bronze one and keep a plug in it. I use mine for dry stg. , but, would like to keep the fishbox option open.

The drain in mine has been removed by previous owner and I wish it was still there because water inevitably gets in there and its a pain to get it out. Just keep a plug in it.
