Default Anchor Locker

I will be adding a windlass to my 1977 Sceptre this winter. Noticed that the anchor locker does not have a drain in the floor. There are ports in the top of the anchor locker bulkhead (for airflow, assumed?). Has this been an issue for anyone?

You could just drill a couple holes in the bottom of the anchor locker. It will drain to the bilge

Mine actually had a small weep hole. Never been an issue. Minimal water to the bilge. I have a surface mounted Lewmar. I recommend adding support underneath. I added (2) 3/4" pcs of plywood glassed together that mirrored the bow section. Its a PITA to work within the anchor locker door/hatch, but once you're done - you're done. Remember to epoxy the edges where the anchor line feeds, the hawsall, down below. I also recommend potting the bolts that go through the deck with epoxy to avoid ever having to deal with water intrusion / delam.

The windlass is a great investment for the Tsunami / Sceptre - get a good one...

Lastly, I think those holes are for fishing poles ( at least that's where my rod tips go )

Ditto to abl1111. Mine has a small hole in the bottom as well. Could be a mod from the previous owner. I went with the lewmar pro fish. Backed it with coosa board. Just can't say enough good things about it and the better half just smiles when you hit the up button!

Found the weep hole, partially covered by the anchor locker bulkhead and plugged with debris. Will enlarge. I thought it strange that they had not put one in. These boats are well thought out for their time.

Anchored up for cobia in the bay this summer. All most rolled off the bow retrieving the anchor when a front moved in early. Along with the windlass I will add a bow rail.

Many thanks.
