Default in floor baitwell removal

I'm in the process of rebuilding the transom on my 1989 20 sf. I also want to seal the bilge access in my splashwell and cut out the floor baitwell to make it removable for bilge access. Does anyone have any pictures of the best way to cut it out and still have it stay in place when put back in?
I also want thank all you guys who post here as i have been able to find tons of information and pictures on rebuilds.

Well, it seems you are smarter than I. You are asking here. I asked at G&S and while George is familiar with these hulls, just not as much as the family here.

I like your idea about being able to use the space for storage.

Only pic I have.

I think if you cut where I did, it would work pretty well. Cut it like a pumpkin lid at Halloween. Make the angle as acute as you can. You would want to make the cut more accurate than I did. Mine is not visible, so I did not take great care when doing so.

Check your stringers while you are there. I had a slight delam of the first layer of roven on the port side.

My Slacker is now an antique in the eyes of Fl. DMV.

The well is all chop, but thicker than I had expected. 3/8- 7/16.

Cheers, and feel free to ask more Qs. Many here do not understand Slackers or what they post...

Thank you very much for the picture. I see you left a lip to keep the water out. Did you have to put a larger piece of plywood core in the hatch?

Nope. The flange lip is plenty thick. You have room to go bigger, but I get no flex.
You can cut the flange back and add a wider core if you want.
