I like 77SceptreOB's hardtop the best - less the tower ). Built like a brick sh*t house. If I tighten up my gunnels and that fixes the issue - then I'll like mine ! Here's a link of mine ( and 77's ).
http://www.classicseacraft.com/commu...ad.php?t=26685 Initially, I thought it was the hardtop design that was the issue ( still could be part of it ), but I now believe the gunnel 'wiggle' is the main culprit. My gunnel aft is tight. It's in the very middle of the boat that there is not much keeping it solid and that is where my hardtop attaches. I am wondering that if I re-install my teak rod holders, how much that might help ? My gunnel core seems fine - I feel your pain working upside down in such a tight spot. However, someone did recommend that I glass additional core on top of my existing core under there. It does seem like a good idea - but again, I 'think' knees would be great alone or in conjunction with the add'l coring. As for the starboard knee, - if I could get away with that, I would. But, the area of concern for me is not flat, it has a box shape to it, and does not readily lend itself to tabbing into with screws, so I 'think' I would have to epoxy /glass in for the max effect. But, I am awaiting for more experienced input… |
