Default Stuart Air Show Gathering/Raft Up Sunday, 11/14?!

Weather's supposed to be nice this weekend, so thought I'd take the dog and run up to Stuart for the airshow this coming Sunday afternoon. Fred Held said he could meet me up there with his Slamrock. Capt. Chuck can't make it but anyone else from the area is welcome to join us! I've seen the show from Witham Field, and they have a lot of aerial demos, including quite a few jets, so should be able to see most of it from the St. Lucie River. Unless someone can suggest a better spot, I thought I'd just anchor east of the Roosevelt Bridge, along the south shore of the River, although it may be too open and choppy there for a raft-up. Another option might be the sand bars south and east of Sewall's Point, but I don't know how close Fred wants to get to the thin water with his inboard. High tide is 3:36 pm in Manatee Pocket, so don't know if there will be any exposed sand! If anyone wants to join us, I'll be monitoring VHF CH16, (just call for Bushwacker or the Restless Lady) or you can try my cell phone, 561-951-9058. Denny

Heard what sounded like a fighter jet cranking it Sunday afternoon, walked outside to look and it was a B2 Bomber not to high heading north over the west coast of Florida.
must have came from the air show and been heading home.

It was a great view from the water. Denny was a little late and I had to head back to the ramp...I was with my son, wife and another family..so we had to get back,,wish I could have spent more time with Denny...will always be a next time...here are some pics

Denny's Seafari...still shines like new and set up for overnighting..he had steak in the cooler..and expensive beer!!!.I had Coors Light and Bologna ...oh and Shadow ready to jump in the water too!!! My son loved Shadow and she was a big hit!!Note the cooler...same color as his bimini and bootstripe and bottom..must be Tom Fabula's paint!!!!

Other boats...

Me and my son..his second time on a boat

My best friend Tom loading the Shamrock back on the trailer..He has my 23 Inboard now!!!!

Hopefully Denny will post some pics too..I did not get any pics of planes..too busy talking and keeping an eye out on everyone aboard...and enjoying frosty beverages !!!

You're right Fred, it's Signature Finish paint . . tough stuff and very user friendly! Followed Capt. Chuck's advice and used leftover batches of paint on the cooler so it now matches boat!

Here's one cool shot of an F-16 flying formation with a P-51! The F-16 did some impressive maneuvers. Although it's roughly same size as a P-51, this shot shows how much more wing area it has(to carry it's much higher weight!)

Here's Fred headed home, with quite a crowd on board!
Since it was a 2 1/2 hr run up there with all the new idle/manatee zones in the ICW , I decided to enjoy the great weather and spend the night anchored out off the sandbar inside the inlet (60F and no bugs!) Shadow enjoyed a big steak bone, and the next day we ran up to visit with Capt. Chuck & return the charts he so generously loaned us for the Fl. circumnavigation trip last spring. Decided to explore the N. fork of the St. Lucie River, so continued on as far as White City, which is about halfway to Ft. Pierce. Here's a couple of shots from that part of the trip.
Shadow enjoys riding in back seat and checking out the scenery!
Ran a total of 115 miles and burned 25.8 gallons per I-Command gage, for an avereage of 4.5 mpg, not bad considering I was running quite a bit faster than optimum for most of the trip! Need to start earlier next time! Denny

Good looking Shammy Fred. An old friend from Vt. had one here and we could fish it all day for 30 clams. Your son will be a natural.

We had a nasty flu all week. I wanted to join, but thought better of it. I love airshows.

Nice shot of Shadow`s tongue.

Cheers,
GFS
