Need suggestions repairing metal rubrail
Im pulling my boat for Hurricane Earl and I think it might be some time for some late season TLC. The metal rub-rail (possibly original)on my 1969 20ft SF is starting to come off. The screws holding it in place actually ripped out their holes in several places. What the best way to tackle this? I was think of just filling the stripped screw holes with epoxy and redrilling......

Re: Need suggestions repairing metal rubrail
When I redid my rub rail a few months ago I did what you are suggesting I filled in all the old screw holes with thickened epoxy and re drilled I put the epoxy in a over size syringe and pushed it in after it hardened I went over with a orbital sander.

Re: Need suggestions repairing metal rubrail
Doesnt make any difference in the manufacturer but the pot time is for me a little more important you need a good hour to work with and make it thick enough that it doesnt want to drip out like a tear drop.

Re: Need suggestions repairing metal rubrail
If you don't want to mess around mixing the stuff. Try a tube of West's Six 10. I have used it and it works well.
