Etec 225 operating temp
I have recently gotten my E-tec 225 connected up to my Lowrance net. I was curious if anyone else has the Etec connected up to a temp display via the EMM. I am looking for the operating temp that you see wide open throttle and at 1000RPM.
I seem to run cooler when WOT and hot when at a fast idle. It seems to not cool very well when I am between 1000 and 1200 RPM and gets up over 180 degrees at this speed. If I hit it up to 1500 it cools quickly down to 150-160 degrees. Is that normal? What is the normal operating temp range of the Etecs? Thanks for any input. |

Re: Etec 225 operating temp
As for the exact temp of the E-tec not sure but it is normal for the temp to increase at idle speeds. The water is not being forced into the impeller.

Re: Etec 225 operating temp
Yes, I assumed that was the case at an idle. I am really trying to get a comparison with others. In the past my high temp horn has gone off a couple of times while at an idle. I have had it serviced with new Tstats, and water pump so I am curious if it is in the proper range now.
I have not had it out long enough to know if it is still going to alarm. Thanks for the info though. Hopefully someone running the same set up will chime in. |

Re: Etec 225 operating temp
I have a 2006 225 with 1300 hrs on it and never had a alarm go off on it, i also haul fish pots with it all day long stopping and going. But what i can say that is negative is that the lower unit and the upper housing under the cowling just got replaced by BRP because everything was corroded. I called BRP and they replaced it no questions asked providing pics. Almost sounded to me like this was a factory defect trying to keep low key. Keep an eye on lower unit where it meets the exhasut housing, look for paint starting to flake off. If you see any you better get on the horn.

Re: Etec 225 operating temp
Thats pretty ugly.
I just had mine in to the shop and he replaced the Exahust housing and took a good look at the other parts in that area. Evidently the etec runs a bit hotter than the older technology and caused the exhaust housing to crack. He said every one he gets in cracks until it is swaped out. Thats partly why I was asking the temp questions. Mine was replaced without any hesitation and he says it should be fine with the new part. I have to wonder if you had a crack and a leak that got everyting else hot due to the exhaust heating up the paint. Not so sure that works down by the lower unit though. |
