Default 1993 Merc. convert to 25\" shaft

I have a 1993 Mercury 135 2.0 20" shaft length.

I am possibly going to have transom enclosed and Hermco bracket installed but will then have to use a 25" motor. My questions---
Is there any kit etc out there that can convert my 20" to a 25" or am I better off trying to sell motor and putting money towards bracket and newer motor

Also, if a kit exists..how difficult would it be for me to convert to 25" shaft??? I have mechanical knowledge , limited tools and time.

How much do these kits cost if they are available???????

Thanks, Fred

i have a 5" spacer on my engine to make it 25" now. i dont know where it came from. i did a google search for you and came up with this. http://www.marineparts.com/PARTSPAGE...ories/ACC8.HTM

or google search for "outboard shaft extension"

i cant imagine it being any harder than a water pump, when i just did mine on friday the spacer comes off with the lower unit.

Hi Fred,
These guys have a good rep. Bigshrimpin told me about them and I think KBay used their kit on his rig earlier this year. They got back to me in a day. $470 for my '83. emailed me a diagram and instructions to give me an idea of what what was involved.

Fdheld,

Sure you can buy it off me now... special price to you $1000. J/K . This kit is not the right one for your motor anyways as I have a 115HP.

I know the guy had another one advertised on Ebay. I think it was for a 135-150 hp range motors. I will PM you the email address I have for him so that you can ask him yourself.

Bay MFG will sell you pieces of the kits seperately. It's about $600 for the full v6 kit. I have the 5" spacer with studs, 5" drive shaft extension. The only pieces you will need are the water tube extension piece (or you can just cut a 1/2" of copper pipe to 23.75") and the 5" shift shaft extension. $125 to your door. For well under $200 you'll have the full kit.

im missing the extra long bolt that goes under the trim tab that holds the L/U on. do they sell bolts by themselves or would it be easier to go somewhere else to get that??
