Default shaft length for a 23 single outboard install

What engine shaft length does a 23 center console need (Single outboard) and will it differ if it's mounted on a bracket?

Assuming it a classic, made after '72, you'll need a 25" shaft. With a bracket, you can use what you want, just by how you mount the bracket. Check with the bracket mfg. for details.
