Re: Trailer for 23 Scepter
ALWAYS go with a higher capacity trailer if there is any question. On my way to the Keys last year, (just over 500 miles) I actually weighed my 1972 Seafari 20' with full fuel and fishing gear onboard. (It cost $5) Including my Magic Trail 5500 lb. capacity trailer (which weighs 872 lbs according to the mfg), my total towed vehicle weight was 4,612 lbs. My motor weighs 406 lbs, and I had 79 gallons of fuel on board. (43 in the main tank, and 2 18 gallon portables)
That works out to 2,860 lbs for hull and fishing/boating equipment. With my 4.0 liter '95 Grand Cherokee, I only tow at 65 mph. (I can tow at 75 mph, but fuel economy falls from 13 mpg, to less than 10 mpg.) And my trailer did NOT come with brakes.
