Default Raycor Question

My twin Raycor fuel filters on my CC are currently located under the hatch located about 4 ft in front of the transom next to the fuel tank. 2 reasons I don't like them there, water from the deck leaks through the hatch and rusts them which is a knucklebuster of a job every year spinning off the filter from the mount then removing the see through plastic area on the bottom. Does anyone on the board have a bright idea where to place these where they will be dry and accessable? Would it be crazy/smelly/fire hazard to place them under the center console? How about fuel primer bulbs, any genius ideas where to mount these??? Help!

Hey Brian,

Too bad about the 27, huh?

I'm putting mine in the little cubbys on either side of the splashwell. I leave the bulb in the splash well where I can get to it easily.

Because there is a battery in each of the "cubbies" on my father's 23, he mounted the filter on the port side of the splash well up high. It used to be mounted inside the port cubby along with the battery! The primer bulb lays in the splashwell. After 2 or 3 seasons, no rust issues with the filter even though it's exposed to the elements.

I have both my Racor fuel Separator and the Primer Bulb mounted to the inside of the transom just below the the small transom boxes. They are accessed thru the "pop-out" inspection plates.
No problem getting to them but may I suggest you use a S/S mounting bracket and put a little silcon grease on the filter threads, the two gaskets as well as the drain bowl threads. They don't need to be "socked down" just hand tight. I don't get any rust at all plus I change the filter every 50 hours and drain the bulb every tank fill

Hey Capt.Chuck, what Racor do you have? I'm looking to put a filter with a drain bowl on my boat. If you have the model number it would be a big help.. thanks

Pipedreams

I really don't know the model number but it takes the Racor replacement element No.S3213.The replacement filter runs around $18 each and the spin off blue water catch bowl is reusable. This model says it's for Quicksilver (Merc) but I don't think it really matters as I have been using it for years on my OMC 250hp. The main housing/bracket is available in S/S or aluminum
