Covers for '89 23'
Help!
I need a pair of the transom covers for my '89 23'. We can make them from Starboard, but would perfer to replace with original. They're roughly 12" x 16". Here's a reference image: Any leads will be appreciated. Otto [ March 14, 2003, 03:55 PM: Message edited by: Otto Cuyler ]

Re: Covers for '89 23'
Otto, Why not make them yourself using fiberglass, gel coat, and some type of core? Using a molding table like Trayder's, you can make some pretty good stuff. You don't need a large sheet of laminate (it does help). Last night, I used a cheap mirror that wasn't being used and made some dash panels to replace the old wood grain ones it came with. I'll be mounting new gauges and GPS into it.
Go to your home improvement store and pick up a piece of melamine or some other coated sheet material. A 2’ x 2’ square would be just right for that hatch. Or get a 2 ‘ x 4’ sheet and do both at the same time. Have someone with a router make a cove molding, and make a frame out of it on the melamine. I would think you could use hot melt glue to hold in place for that job and then remove it when you’re done. Wax up the wood molding and the melamine. Spray in the gel coat with a preval sprayer. Lay up the laminate and add your core. |
