74 tsunami
hey fellas need some help, found a totally re done tsu, owner pulled i/o new trasom ,did not add bracket for out board motor,cut notch instead. boat looks new, but, if she was designed for i/o and now has outboard what are my concerns? any advice will really help. if this boat's on l.i.,then talk about a coincidence!i happened to call a dealer just this morning about what sounds like the same boat.he says the boat is mint,new everything.nottoo sure about notching out an i/o transom for an o.b. though.seems to me you'd need a stronger transom for the o.b.since te entire weight of the ngine rests on the transom,as opposed to the i/o where the inboard engine beds share the load.seems a little pricey,too-assuming it s the same boat(24,900?)Reason I called on it was that i have a 74 tsunami i/o and have been thinking about replacing with a twin o.b powered boat. |

The only thing I can think of is the weight balance of the boat. My '82 Sceptre was originally rigged with twin V6 OB's, and now that it only has a single V6 OB, there is a slight bow-down attitude while at rest. I wonder if this I/O you're looking at will have the same issue, since you're going from a much heavier inboard to a lighter OB? Just a thought. |

You guys can call Mike at American Marine in Tarpon Springs FL, we both had a couple SeaCrafts and when the brackets first came out I think he did a lot of reseach on switching I/O's to brackets,727 938 9796

I used to own a 22 ft. HiLiner C.C. I junked an O.M.C. outdrive with a 307 Chevy for a 175 Merc. Had the transom notched and reinforced, worked out fine.A freind bought the boat and it's been repowered a few times,but the hull is still sound.
