New to site and new to owning a seacraft. I just bought a 1973 20' seafari equipped with a 1987 evinrude 140. Having trouble keeping the engine idling. Thinking about repowering and getting on down the road. The question I have is.... How much wight can I hang off the back and not effect the performance, ride, and safety of the boat.

I have been looking at Verados and suzukis. Both are heavy compared to the evinrude. 510 and 484 respectively. Also looking at the optimax as well.

    I want something quite.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks
