Default Antique Registration

Gents: I recall seeing some talk about this but couldn't find anything in my searches. What is the age requirement for a discounted Florida registration? I have 83 & 79 vessels. Thanks

If I remember correctly it's only $6.25 per year, not bad!

Looking at the form, it indicates the same year engine as original. The statute dose not seem to be as clear. Also, if you get that discount, it appears that you can't also take $3.92 off for having locator beacon.

I had no problem getting mine with a different engine, I just told them it was still powered by an outboard, which is the same type power it came with. Plus you get a cool "antique vessel" decal....it's the little things.

That is how I was trying to interpret it. But my long time friend, originally from Columbia, SC, now living nearby in Hudson, Fla, has everything he owns still registered in SC. To continue receiving my disability, I cannot make HB my primary residence. Oh well.

Oh, and Don, speaking of the little things, like roasted red peppers and Locatelli Pecorino Romano. Oh My!.!

I looks like it should also work for my '79 sailboat. Still uses sail power, never had an internal combustion engine.

What I'm reading on the form, I agree with moose. The statute doesn't exactly say that and I don't know about anything on sailboats.

from Fl statutes;

2) ANTIQUE VESSEL REGISTRATION FEE.—
(a) A vessel that is at least 30 years old, used only for recreational purposes, and powered by the vessel’s original-type power plant may be registered as an antique vessel. When applying for registration as an antique vessel, the owner of such a vessel shall submit certification, as prescribed by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles or from a marine surveyor that the vessel meets the requirements of this paragraph.
(b) The registration number for an antique vessel shall be permanently attached to each side of the forward half of the vessel as provided in ss. 328.48 and 328.54.
(c) The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles may issue a decal identifying the vessel as an antique vessel. The decal shall be displayed as provided in ss. 328.48 and 328.54.

I'm guessing it would depend on how the local tax office interprets it.
