Default Regaining deck space at Stern of my 23 CC

What mods have you guys made? Not looking to close up all the transom. Just a way to regain the space lost without losing the safety that comes with it!

Are you still using your original live well? Thinking of taking that out aswell and moving the batteries to the cockpit!

Dang! What size tank you have, I've got a 144 gallon and it does not go that far back. It's only about 4" past the front of the rear hatch opening. Look at KMoose's posts, his splash well mods work very well.

I put a 120 gallon tank in my 1974 23cc. We also cut the splash back by 12" pulled the live well out and re-glassed it all back in.. Came out great and raised the transom to 30".. I installed a 2012- F300... Check out my pics and you can see the before and after..

I only had my 4 stroke about 6 months, when my friend was driving onto my trailer. Everything was fine, until he tilted the motor and he forgot to unlatch the bottom section of the teak door. Luckily, the latches broke before it did too much damage to the motor cowling.
I decided to make an inexpensive door and bungee strap the bottom half, so it would flex in case the motor went too high again. The top half slides in and its hard to forget it.
I also had the original hatch glassed in and put one where I could get to it.

Most of the time, I don't bother to put top portion up (it hangs on bottom portion). Motor still carries scar from old door.

Dang Ronnie, I don't remember that boat being that shiny when you took Dougie and I fishing. Have you been working on it? It looks great, but I like it better splattered with Dolphin blood, Bro'.

It gets cleaned when I come back from fishing. The first pic is what it looks like today. Can you see all the pine needles.

That bungee idea is brilliant.

Mine is not so pretty but it is very functional. The height is minimal but seems to be the perfect height to keep the water out. The down side is you need to have an offset motor bracket to give enough motor clearance.

This winter I will be ordering a dual Hermco bracket for a major refit on the ol girl. New transom, floor, fuel tank and helm mod.
