Raising the floor
Has anyone removed and reinstalled the floor in two pieces? I am going to raise 1.5"-2" so the scuppers drain out the transom. Are there tricks or less toublesome ways to accomplish the removal if cut down the center and along the sides? Of course I am asking this after already removing said floor! Thanks for your input and advice.

Re: Raising the floor
I should add this is a '76 SF 20. I am replacing the transom coring so the rear portion is out and not in the way.

Re: Raising the floor
Most cut the floor around the sides and a couple cuts in width ways. Installing the floor , to me, would be easier sheet by sheet. You could do it in one whole piece but its alot of work. How do you plan to raise the floor?

Re: Raising the floor
I'll likely glue up 2.5"-3" strips of 3/4" marine ply to the height and epoxy/glass them to the stringer outline. I'm thinking of glassing cleats to the back side of the sides and to alternating pieces of the floor to help align things up. I am going to reuse the original floor. It is sound except a small area of the starboard side. I'll recore and glass that tomorrow.

Re: Raising the floor
If you pulled the cap, you might be able to drop a new floor in as one piece.
IN THEORY you could do put an original floor back in it. But why? Putting a 30+ year old floor back in a boat? Really? Why not just get some new ply cut into pieces, laminated up your riser pieces and glue new floor down. Also have you thought about the fact the hull widens out as it goes up, the old floor would need a filler panel all the way around to contact the outer hull. TOo much work, buy 4 sheets of plywood and do it right.

Re: Raising the floor
Post some pics of what you have going on. Raising the floor like that is a good way to do it. But using the original floor is kinda crazy. You are already doing glass work, why not a little more. Like stated above, if you use the original floor, it will be pretty far away from the side of the boat, and to make a filler between the two would be harder than just cutting new wood.
