Default Toyota Tacoma recall!!

Hey everyone if you have a 1995 - 2000 Tacoma there is recall on the frame for a rust issue. I noticed a rust spot on my 1996 and went to the dealer and they inspected and told Toyota will want to buy my truck. To make a long story short Toyota contacted me very fast and is paying a crazy amount of money to me for 1996 4x4 with 197,000 miles. When I say crazy I mean crazy. I u have one I suggest you have it checked, not just for the $ but safety.

Been there done that. They wanted to be able to drive a hammer through the frame. It was bad but I could not collect even under the threat of a legal action.
Traded it back in to the dealer that gave me a hard time. Their loss. Do check it out. I could have gotten 10K plus for me 96 with 166,000 miles.

That's why I drive a Ford... '02 F250 diesel crew, 180K so far, expecting 500K or more.

My wife's '95 4Runner 3.0L had a main bearing failure at 103K. New motor was $4K

OTOH, my last Ford (an '85 Bronco) had 314K on it when I sold it in '02, still running strong, not burning oil. Then I bought a '95 Jeep G. Cherokee in '02 w/ 140K. Traded it in on the F250 in Dec '05 with 248K on it. Only the second daily-driver truck in my life that I didn't reach 250K miles with.

Pre- Obama Chevrolet all the way baby . The old Toyota 22R motors were hard to kill though.

You guys need to experience the joys of winter driving in the east. They put enough salt on the roads to dissolve the heaviest tank. I loved all three of my Toyotas just not happy about the frame recall.

That's why I stay in Florida!!! I've had cars and trucks from GM, Ford, Dodge, Nissan, Toyota and Mazda, all were fine vehicles but the 2007 Tundra I've owned since new is the best of all. No issues with it at all, excellent ergonomics and quality, and Toyota service is first rate. USA made too! I owned a 2004 Tacoma Pre-Runner before the Tundra and it also was an excellent truck, but I needed something bigger for the family and more oomph for towing the Anacapri so I traded it for the Tundra. Hopefully we won't have the same frame issue on this model but I'm not worried, all the manufacturers have recalls, some more than others, but as long as they fix the problem for free I'll be satisfied.

I have a 2004 PreRunner as well. Tickled pink with it. Others include:
1971 Toyota Corrola
1979 Toyota pickup
1984 Toyota 4Runners
2007 Toyota Sequoia (my wife's baby)

I am sold on t hem. never a problem and all ran like a top. I pulled a 20ft boat with a 5 liter inboard with my 4-banger 4Runner with no problem (had to drop into 3rd for major hills)

real men where bowties... lol all opinions aside toyota makes a great engine but chassis and suspension parts are nother story. i had a 2000 yota pickup that was my beach buggy for a while great running truck, no rust but cv axles just dont hold up... 4 banger w/ manual tranny ran like a top and lots of torque for what it was
