Default 1975 Sceptre transom

Can anyone give me some advice on preparing my transom for my glass guy to replace it. Its going to save me some money by doing this.Should I tear it out from the inside or the outside? If anyone has any advice please let me know.I currently fish a 24' Albemarle express, This 23' Seacraft was givin to me by an elderly women around the corner whos husband died 2 years ago.The agreement with the women was if she gave me the boat I would get it back in the water and take her striper fishing this year. Im really excited about getting this boat together for her. This is my first Seacraft I've ever owned and Im very excited to get this rig back to were she belongs !!!!!

It's an I/O setup. The motor and out drive have already been removed. And all stern lights and bilge through hull fittings have been removed.

I would ask your transom guy what you can do. BUT if its a 23 I/O definitely approach it from the inside. You can make 2 small cuts across the hawspipes and remove the rear portion of the cap. It leaves plenty of room to work. Then I would remove the inner skin, core, and grind down the outer skin (prep it). That way you guy can just do the layup. OR you can just get a bunch of beer, resin and glass and do it yourself If you search old posts its been done before. They are what helped me.

Dilligaf, Good to know there is a good ole' local boy on here. Im going to do all the prep work and maybe do the install im not sure yet. I have acess to all the material I need so I might. But its also nice handing it to someone else and letting them deal with it. But if you are talking about experience lets do it.
