Congrats again, Fellow-ship. Very nice. And Merry Christmas.

Why is Santa twisting the fish's nose, Daddy?

I remember eating tilefish as a kid. It tasted kinda like cod. Could this be the same fish? Do they eat good?

Hi Briguy;

Here are a few pictures of a Golden tilefish and they are a deep water fish I get them in about 650’ on the bottom and they do taste kind of like Cod. White meat we like them cut up in fingers and fried with bear batter.

Hi reelescape1;

That’s one of the real advantages of South Florida fishing grounds. I run up and down the coast more then running out to the fishing grounds. 600’ is approx 6 miles from the cut. 1500’ is about 12 miles out.

In this picture you can see Miami Beach just behind that boat passing by.

I've fished out of Jupiter a number of times and it will spoil you! Here out of Chas. SC 600' is about 50 miles, the 180' ledge starts about 45 miles out. Except for the time it takes it's not too bad at $1.40/gallon

You guys and depth 90 miles out and maybe 100+ (gulf side). Out here it is basically for every mile out you gain one foot.

At that rate it is time to turn around and come back in by the time you get to the fishing grounds.
