Default New Jersey Bassing

Went out early this morning with two friends. We slayed the bass off of Harvey Cedar Hump. Probably caught about 15 bass (to about 20 pounds) and 20 bluefish between 7am and 9am. The fish were under working birds and metal & poppers were the tickets.

We then went sea bassing and caught about 40 keepers, along with some tog. Got a little snotty when we were about 8 miles offshore.

Great day on the water.

Peter

Nice striper, Peter. Looks like they're getting thick. Do they run up the Hudson or the Delaware to spawn in the fall, or is that a spring fling? Sweet pics too, I can really feel the chill in the air. Eels, bunker or lures this time of year? What a cool fish. Have the weakfish rebounded up there? Here's a California Weakfish, er, white seabass that took my dolphin jig in La Jolla kelp.

The bass spawning in the hudson is a spring thing, although you can catch bass in the hudson this time of year. The bass are feeding on everything now. There are large schools of both peanut and adult bunker around right now. Also, one gorilla blue that I caught yesterday spit up with nice sardines.

The weakfishing was ok this year (not great). It's really a year by year thing.

Peter, Thanks for the insight. Slaying stripers and big blues in November, wow!
