Default Gel coat non skid on gunwale

I’m considering having my boat re-gelled. I’d like a non-aggressive non-skid for the top of the gunwale. I recall that Trayder and others have done this and wondered what technique produced good results. Is it acceptable to tape off the sections to keep clean, and simply apply another layer of gel coat and leave it as orange peel? Or should a dry roller be run over it before it dries in order to lift a pattern a bit?

Default Re: Gel coat non skid on gunwale

I just redid my floor with interlux interdeck non-skid. It looks real good, and was out on the water in it today, and it definitly is no-skid. Whenever I have done something with gelcoat (mix sand in it), it seams to hold the dirt more, and not as easy to clean.
