There used to be an experimental commercial harvest of Venus Sunrays in St Joe Bay, early 1960's. I used to get them along the south shore of Tampa Bay in the early 1980s, yum, yum. Nothing there now. In a couple of weeks, plan to spend a few days poking around St Joe Bay and St Andrews Sound, looking to see if they are still around(and getting piggy with scallops).

Anybody ever been in St Andrews Sound? part of Tindal AFB, not Panama City. On Google Earth, it looks completely undeveloped and unspoiled.

Default St. andrews Sound

Aka crooked Island Sound.. Yes very virgin waters and beaches. Tydall launches drones there so when they leave you betta leave...
there is news that tyndall airforce base wants to own all the water around that area as well. Which will be bad for boaters hopefully they will not get there way..
There is excellent floudering, trout redfish spanish mac and pompano when in season.
Tarpon have been spotted there aswell... Lots of sharks and stingwrays . Tons of baitfish and mass amounts of mullets...there is a nice little wreck the sipson of the beach on the east side inabout 15- 20' of water.. Hope this helps..
All in all one of my favorite places to fish and gig flounder at night.. Mj

Sounds perfect. Looking at the closed area, it looks like you can legally stay in the Sound outside of the closed area during a drone closure, you just can't leave. Is that right?

Thanks for the wreak. An E. E. Simpson shows just offshore in 17 ft, at what is probably just east of the sound entrance. Is that the one you are talking about? The coordinates in the fishing guides don't make sense. Do you have a position.

Connor
