Re: Anyone local have a tablesaw? Coffin recore...
Actually from what I hear....you don't even hear a "Boom", its simply lights out. Explosions are supersonic, the sounds usually comes miliseconds after the energey of the explosion...therefore one would be blown to smitherines before one knew what happen. Like I said...if the boom succeeds in killing you its a painless and fast way to die ! As for the tank, take it out and if its still good give it a coating with a epoxy paint or coal tar expoxy. That way it will stay good for a while. Alex

I was thinking about POR 15. Anyone familiar with it or is epoxy the way to go?

I think POR 15 is good for steel but not for Aluminum. For the aluminum I'd stick with what has been tried and proven...epoxy coating (i.e. paint) or Coal Tar Epoxy.

Re: Anyone local have a tablesaw? Coffin recore...
Welcome Loon,
Just back from Woodstock, Vt 10/14. Peak foliage. Just finished the honey dew list at 4 and got out the flat bar , crowbar, putty knives, and a small hammer. Core is out in under 1 1/2 hrs. Blew up my belt sander. Real wet and the top skin was only 1 layer of biax. No more damage. Glue products is our local Bateau. Thought they closed at 5 on Sat.... Really wanted to finish the recore Sun. GFS |

Coating a tank.
IMHO, coal tar epoxy has been around a long time. I'm sure there are some new products on the market. Make sure it's compatible with aluminum and will be FLEXABLE after it cures.
Thanks to Classic SeaCraft for all the information, from it's members. SeaCraft boats forever. Love my 20 foot center console. Bob 9/29/2018 |
