Bigshrimpin my 23cc has I believe, the original transom. It was originally riged with twins based on the holes patched on the transom and the old dual guages/fuel filers. Currently it has a 1994 Yamaha 250 25" shaft on it. The deck has not been raised and with 2 of us totaling about 400 lbs standing side by side at a back corner we get no water in the floor scuppers at rest, wave action changes this a little but still not bad. All that said just to give you the whole picture, I have not yet launched with the live well being in use. I plan on doing that in 2 weeks in NW Florida. Having been out drifting and bottom fishing in 3 foot seas I can tell you that little splash well mod sure gives you some added piece of mind. I can get the motor tilted up probably 85% so the foot is still in the water. And though it is mounted in the highest hole the engine should come up about another 3/4-1" based on the cavitation plate when running. So a jack plate would probably make the motor tilt up more but probably still not completely. If I were going to do this mod knowing what I know, which probably is not much, I would build the splash guard/weir a little shorter and I would start a little more to the rear and angle it inboard a few degrees. That would still give me the access
to the bait well and allow for full tilt. If anyone whats any more pictures and/or dimensions just let me know. Michael |

Bigshrimpin. How does your kicker do? Can you get 7mph?

The 9.9 two stroke is happy b/w 5 - 6mph.
TAP - Thanks for the info . . . sounds like a worthwhile mod. I don't get water through the scuppers even with the well full, but waves do come over the transom when drifting. |
