With hurricanes and housing in Florida, there are three reasonable actions, (1)buy something that meets your needs and is cheap enough that you can walk away from a total loss in the very unlikely situation of getting hit by a big one(trailers can make sense), or (2) buy something high enough and strong enough to stand up to a category 4 or 5, (3) rent.
