Fried grouper?? really? You mean they serve normal food? All I know about is the nachos and the "Royal Pub Special" pizza....oh yeah almost forgot, the beer, I've never looked at the real menu.

X2 on the Stuffed Pig. Got to see the pig races the last time we were there.

Since you're on a tight budget, also look into flying in/out of Ft Lauderdale. I've found the greater availability of flights from Boston or Prividence and the cheaper rates outweigh the additional 30 minutes of drive time beyond Miami.

Thanks guys I had no idea the middle keys were so much better than Key West. I always hear everyone talking key west and really thought that was the place to be. Now that we have been schooled we will be altering the trip a bit. Thanks again. I will be keeping an eye on this for more great ideas.

Once in awhile us old farts are right-on...
Take advantage of the local knowledge...
I have been going to the Keys my whole life from Daytona...
Over that period of time I try not to make the same mistake twice!

All of us here just want you to enjoy and have a great honeymoon!!

Just be careful and not let us know where you will be....
Your honeymoon will end up being a CSC gathering!!

We love any excuse for that to happen.

Having lived in Key West for awhile and seeing your wife suggested or has seen the Waldorf as an option I think you are going to be somewhat disappointed with the middle keys accommodations.

There is much more to Key West than Mallory square and Duval street

Restaurants are exceptional

Michaels
Cafe Sole
Prime 951
Antonia's
Seven Fish
Cafe Marquesa
Etc

All within walking disance of old town Key West

There are
bike tours
trolley tours
walking tours
aquariums
butterfly exhibits
shipwreck museums
shopping
and beaches in Key West (albeit imported from the Bahamas)

The middle keys are great but you won't find accommodation that compare to the Waldorf nor will you be able to do anything with out driving around.

I totally agree with Trayder on KW..a ton of things to do and all of which you can walk or bike to, very convienent, and like he mentioned there is great food and most of it off of Duval where the local people go. I have taken many a trips with a woman in tow, and if we dont go to KW they are usually bitchin'...the middle keys are great but KW is hard to beat
