The no wake zone pass the ferry at Palm/Don Pedro Island is only a mile long. After you get out it Dog Island is only couple of miles away.

If this gets put together I will post all the good stuff to be had around there etc. fish, restaurants and such.

Dog Island is a local hang out and there are NO FACILITIES ON THE ISLAND this would be primitive camping.

Dog give me a shout if you are going by.

Default Nov SW gathering

That's a great area! I Kayaked from Stump Pass to Boca Grande Pass not to long ago, and that old railroad bridge is very cool right there. Great tidal water and seemed to be right in the middle between Stump and Boca Grande Pass. Alright ESD, scout it out for us! Terry is right around the corner if I recall......I would agree that the ride from South Sarasota is a great one with very little wind.

Island Trader I'm pretty primitive in general - very adaptible lets say.

Looks like I will be running down from Indian Mound Ramp rather than Venice - the wind forcast makes that long run not appetizing.

You know where it is, come down for an afternoon, my cell is 813 695 0482, we will be somewhere close - the Scream and Fly guys are good folks bring the 21 they would prolly get a kick.

Like I said we may go down next weekend and camp, so can give a better report but I saw it as we went on by and it looked really nice. Its kinda the local hangout island so must be nice
if you drive a bit farther south to Englewood Indian Mounds park has a free ramp and is slot closer then the Venice ramp.

Edit. I see you already knew that.

Drove back sat night, a few dead fish - cloudy and windy - crappy little island

Did use Indian Mound, decent drive without much traffic - 12 mi to the trestle

I cruised around and found no alternate sites, went all the way down to Sand fly Key and then out Lil Gasp Pass - the southern point of Boca Grande looked real nice on that wind but I'm sure somebody would have an issue, but I was tempted. We have the sleeping platform so we can sleep comfortably on the boat, but with the wind at the last minute I took it out - bad move the outside was flat.
