I didn't know that you had to own a certain type of boat to be able to ask questions about repairing one! And yes there are Grady sites that i could probably ask the same questions, but seems they don't do a whole lot of restorations on boats, most have enough money to ditch the old whole in the water and go buys a brand fartin new one, well I'm not one of these type people, i can't just up and dump 60,000.00 in a "DECENT" rig! I would much rather put my ass in something that i have had my hands in and know EVERYTHING about. If i have crossed some kind of invisible line by asking a question about a rig other than yours, i apologize, and it won't happen again.

Just thought that he would get more Grady specific answers on a site for grady's, there is a differencce in construction, nothing else intended !

Marine Ply sandwiched together with epoxy to the correct thickness of the existing stringers. Use a cabosil/epoxy mix to glue the stringer in place after you have them cut to shape. West systems book shows how to repair parts of existing stringers. Laminate it with a few alternating layers of 1808 or mat/18oz roving. US Composites sells a nice thin laminating epoxy resin and it's fairly inexpensive. Otherwise I like the system III 2:1 epoxy. Short nap rollers are excellent for wetting out mat and not making a mess of the fibers. Good Luck . . . It will be years before you're boating again. I still think you should find a better boat worthy of your money and time.

I am in the process of redoing the transom and adding a bracket to one now for a customer. A 21' lapstrake Grady White. I will post pics soon.

Thanks for the info bigshrimpin, I'll put it to good use.I also own a 18' Tracker, i use mainly freshwater fishing, thats why I'm not worried about how long it takes. Hermco that would be great if you could post some pics of the job when you start. Thanks again to all who took time to help.

Is allmost done. Didn't have any termites. Just a rotted transom.

Hermco, THAT LOOKS GREAT! Thats exactly what i want. Real good clean lines you got there. My old girl is know where near that good looking. If you look at it like this, I drove by this boat for 11 years, and it never moved. Man that owned it, super nice fellow, but way to busy. I am finishing up my second home, my wife and i remodeled an 103 year old farm house, and we are nearing completion, wanted something else to work on afterwards, well here she is!

I know she is going to be alot of work, but anything worth having usually is.
