I'm a dork.

I bring my 9' conventional AllStar Surf Rod (same blank as the Breakaway 9' LDFS) with a Mag Elite, a 975 Penn, or a Calcutta 400 on it. Great for castin eels and plugs into shore or into the breakers. Can cast a 5oz jig or a big slimey eel and has huge backbone for hammering the hook home...

whichever one I've just built...or bought!

95% of the time, a 7' casting rod with a 6500 or the Penn 975 (great reel, a little heavy though), 15 or 20 mono, and now Fireline.

A 7' casting rod with either a Calcutta 400 or International 965 for bait, eels, etc. I'll switch to a 7' spinning setup with a Stradic 4000 for plugging.
