Just when I think I am ready to get to work with the boat shed being all ready I get this.

Well that Blows. Last night was bad almost every where on the East Coast. Where are you?

South Shore of Massachusetts. Went out for a dentist appointment and it was raining and 37 degrees. Got home and it was getting sunny and 50 and a little breezy. All was good with the shed. Then the wind. At 5:00 we got the 50 mph gusts and the shed got blown out. I secured it with ratchet straps. It is holding on now. Tomorrow will be getting back in shape and screwing everywhere there are nails. Also I will be adding ground anchors and maybe some more bracing. Only a few holes in the shrinkwrap to patch. The gut punch is subsiding now that I have a plan to repair it.

Yeah it’s still blowing here! I got a few holes in mine and the shrink wrap somehow got a bit loose and is flapping in the wind! Not much you can do with 50 mph winds lets hope to finish before the next big wind event!

Frustrating is all. I was planning on going to the boat show tomorrow. I'm busy Sunday so that leaves the following Saturday or I miss it. Busy next Sunday as well. I was also thinking about getting more of the transom corners ground out to make a smooth transition and stencil out the shape for the Coosa. Even cut the Coosa if things went well. Now I see my whole day fixing the shed.

Ahh, Mass. Know the Cape pretty well, have family in South Wellfleet. Blew thru here in Hernando Beach at 50 easy but the Seafari and dock faired well. Keep pushing forward. Spring is close!

Also on the rear of the structure tie in a 2 X 4 from the inside corner at top
than angle to center at bottom, from both sides.


I know it sucks having things like this happen..

Lots of progress today. She is back in position after the whole thing shifted a little. Took ratchet straps connected to a tree to move it. I got a bunch of the hurricane straps for the roof to wall joint and then right angle braces for the wall to base. Lots of 3" screws additionally in each joint.

I was looking for heavy duty screw in ground anchors, but all Home Depot had were the dog runner things. 3 out of 4 corners have the anchors screwed in the ground with a piece of rebar wedged over the PT frame. The 4th broke when I was screwing it in. A more substantial option will be needed.

Tomorrow will be finishing up a few more of the braces and then screwing in 2x4's diagonally on each wall panel and the corners. There a few tears in the shrinkwrap that will get patched. I don't have the propane heat gun, just a regular one. It works, just slowly. I will need to retack the shrinkwrap all around the base too.

The final step will be getting the tarp door squared away. One 2x6x96 board wasn't enough to keep it weighed down. I am thinking screwing 2x4's to the PT and to the frame and adding ground anchors may work. The taped in zipper door survived and will be my entrance/exit. More pics to come when she is back in shape.

I built mine over a sandy soil, not sure if this would work for you. I took 2 X 12's or whatever big flat piece of wood you got drilled a hole in the center then stuck some 1/2in old dock line through it and tied a stopper knot on the back. Then I dug a 2 ft hole and buried it with the line coming out of the ground to use as an anchor, cheap option. This would especially work for you if you did it when the ground was not frozen but then froze it in, it would be very secure I would think. Your ground might already be frozen up there though.

I did the pull test myself and couldn't budge it, they also didn't budge in the recent wind event. When I leave the enclosure I have the frame rachet strapped to the boat itself in three spots so at least I know the cover can tear off but the frame isn't going anywhere where it can blow around and be dangerous.

But the recent wind even was extreme hopefully just a minor set back

They work really well but are hard to get into rocky ground.
