Default Yamaha ignition system

Bought a 1976 20 SF back in 2006 and then purchased a 2003 Yamaha 130 2S crate engine. Everything has been great since then until last fall when a tree branch dropped on the center console and I had to replace the console, the 704 remote control box and the ignition switch. Apparently, the new ignition switch has a built in push to activate choke system that replaces the need to use the "pull to activate style choke knob" on the engine. Sounds good, but every time I try to start the engine, I seem to flood it and start to run down the battery. What's the accepted technique or method for getting a cold start with these 2 new parts?

All my 2S Yammies liked a bit of throttle for cold starts - and not so much choke.
