Default Hitchhiker Trailer Question

Anyone with a Hitchhiker know where they hid the VIN on these old trailers?

There's a sticker on the left side of mine that has all the specs (GVWR, tire size, axle load, model number and name etc. etc.), but only a six digit serial number where I would have assumed a VIN would be.
Trailer is a 1983 so well after the DOT started issuing VIN's.

My brother has one for his 23'er, next time I see it I'll look for the "VIN". I'd never heard of a Hitchhiker trailer before, dang thing is built like a tank!!

I had one under my 18 until last year. A bulletproof trailer. The reason I got rid of it was the springs were 7 leaf and way too stiff for my boat. I was going to retrofit a torsion axle, but, it was gonna cost slightly more than half of the Road King so I seized the moment.

Default Hitchhiker Trailer

Bought my Tandem axle Hitchhiker in 1978 for my 20' Seafari. Still love it. It moved from salt (always rinsed it as well as I could) to fresh water in 2000. Axle is original. Have replaced bunks once, springs once or twice, the bearings, lights, wheels and tires as necessary. The small tires and v-shaped cross pieces kept the boat lower and easier to use on slippery ramps. When the boat load is coming on the trailer it is forward of the trailer axle increasing the tongue load instead of lifting it and the vehicle. Almost lost the rig with the former HIGH trailer.

It is a pretty cool trailer.
I scored it this fall here on the forum from a member in Chatham MA.
Needed some welding on the tongue, a new hitch, wheels and springs and a coat of paint.
Looks mint now!
It was already set up for a 23 Seacraft CC, so my new to me 23 Sceptre fit like a glove.
Couldn't be more pleased. Just need to register it and the VIN is nowhere to be found...
