I just replaced the flap style on my boat with 1 1/8 drains with the TH marine ball scuppers. So far I'm not impressed. They still let water in and they dont flow as much as the flaps did. I notice the flow when I wash the boat on a trailer. The flaps let more water out and in my opinion, when in the water, did not let a significant amount more water in. They seem to help when I'm standing in a corner and the scupper dips below water line and over a prolonged period of time perhaps they let less water in than the flaps but not as much as I would have hoped. I dont think I'll bother with them again. Maybe there are better ones out there than mine?

i had flaps, went to balls, and when I had my transom rebuilt I went back to flaps. I think the flaps work better and look better.
